My heart sinks as hundreds of wildfires are burning — across my home state of California, in Utah where I was raised (where my family lives), and all across the American West. The air here in LA is thick with smoke and heat. Over a hundred thousand people are evacuated from their homes, humans and animals have lost their lives, and heroic firefighters are being summoned from all around the world to help. I’m so grateful for their sacrifice.
But the wildfires aren’t the only thing burning in our world. Our Souls are on the line. There is a burning in our hearts — as we face the myriad of suffering all around us. It is difficult to face the harshness of our reality.
It is in this moment we must dig deeper than ever before. What is our purpose? How can we discover the truer parts within ourselves, and leave behind what doesn’t serve us? How do we truly follow the summons of each prophet, every guru, the Buddha and Christ — to love each other?
We can begin. Take one step. One step together. All together now.
Namaste,
~Emily
